Writings, address, research material, correspondence, and subject files created and collected by Jay Urice, documenting his life-long work with the YMCA, his studies at Coe College and Columbia University, and his role in organizing the Institute of Pacific Relations and the Pan-Pacific Conference. The bulk of the collection consists of research and reference files containing articles and book reviews on a wide variety of topics, such as eugenics, sexual hygiene, and education, as well as Christianity.

Jay Adams Urice was born in Garrison, Iowa in 1891. He began his life-long connection with the YMCA as a member of the student association at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. After graduating in 1912, he joined the staff of the Honolulu YMCA. Later he served on the personnel board of the YMCA's War Work Council and as head of the personnel bureau for the YMCA International Committee.
